Meet the Grantmaker: Gregory Vigdor

Greg Vigdor is President of the Washington Health Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health for the people of Washington.  Greg was previously a senior vice president for the Washington State Hospital Association, where he was responsible for policy development and advocacy.  He also served as executive director of the Association of Washington Public Hospital Districts.

 

Greg has worked as director of public policy for the New Mexico Hospital Association, and as program coordinator for government affairs for Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound.  He was selected in a national competition as one of two Advanced Fellows in Health Care Policy and Management for the American Hospital Association and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.  He has also worked as a nursing administrator at a major inner-city hospital, and as an independent management consultant and law clerk.

 

Greg earned his Juris Doctorate degree with honors from George Washington University Law Center and went on to graduate from the University of Washington with a Masters of Health Administration degree.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (with a distinction in political science) from the University of Connecticut.  Greg is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the Washington State Society of Hospital Attorneys.  He was awarded the “Friend of Rural Health” award from the Washington Rural Health Association in 1993.

Greg and his wife Jan live in Ballard with their two dogs, Zydeco and Mojo.
